Samuel Ortom, the immediate past governor of Benue State, has asked his Kogi State counterpart, Yahaya Bello, to come out of hiding and present himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to Matterarising the anti-graft bureau designated Bello sought last week for alleged money laundering. The EFCC is prosecuting the former governor for allegedly misappropriating over N80 billion while serving as governor of Kogi State.
Ortom spoke during a thanksgiving service organized by his former appointees to commemorate his 63rd birthday at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Regional Headquarters in Makurdi on Sunday.
“.He stated, “Let me take this opportunity to warn my younger brother and friend, former governor Yahaya Bello, not to disrespect prior governors.
“If the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) summons you to account for your stewardship, go there. You do not need to hide from the EFCC or resist arrest. Go there and explain. The EFCC are human persons who execute their jobs.
“If they make an inquiry, the laws are there. I tried calling him but couldn’t get him to answer, and I tried those surrounding him but couldn’t either. I want him to take note that if he can hear me from wherever he is, he should appear before the EFCC.
