Reno Omokri Calls Out Peter Obi’s Hypocrisy Over Alleged Lagos Homeless Deportation

Reno Omokri, a prominent political commentator, has accused Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, of hypocrisy over his criticism of the Lagos State Government’s alleged deportation of homeless people to their state of origin in Osun state.

Omokri pointed out that Obi, as the former Governor of Anambra State, had a history of similar actions, making his criticism of Lagos State Government’s actions hypocritical.

In 2013, Obi had falsely accused the Lagos State Government of deporting homeless Anambra indigenes and threatened to deport people of mostly Yoruba origin from Anambra.

Additionally, in 2011, he ordered the review of the employment of all non-indigenes, including those of Southeast origin, from the Anambra State Civil Service. This record, according to Omokri, strips Obi of the moral authority to criticize Lagos or any other state for taking action to protect their state.

Omokri also highlighted the irony that Lagos State has employed hundreds of Anambra indigenes in its civil service, while Obi’s administration did not employ any Lagos indigenes during his tenure as Governor. Omokri condemned Obi’s “Gbajue grandstanding and gaslighting” and urged that it should not go unchallenged.

Reno Omokri statement reads:

It is incredibly hypocritical for Peter Obi to criticise the Lagos State Government for the alleged deportation of homeless people to their state of origin in Osun state.

On Thursday, August 1, 2013, Peter Obi, as Governor of Anambra State, falsely alleged that the Lagos State Government, under then Governor Tunde Fashola, had deported homeless Anambra indigenes and then proceeded to threaten to deport people of mostly Yoruba origin from Anambra.

Additionally, on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, Mr. Obi ordered the review of the employment of all non-indigenes, including those of Southeast origin, from the Anambra State Civil Service.

With such a record, Mr. Obi lacks the moral authority to criticise Lagos or any other state for taking action to protect their state. Especially as Lagos has employed hundreds of Anambra indigenes in her civil service. How many Lagosiams did Obi employ when he was Governor?

This Gbajue grandstanding and gaslighting must not be allowed to go unchallenged.
