In a tragic incident on 22nd of December,2023 Friday morning, a distressing scene unfolded in the heart of Lagos as a two-floor structure suspected to be distressed collapsed in the Ebute-Metta area.
The calamity left one person dead and others trapped beneath the debris, including a baby and an adult woman.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service swiftly responded to the emergency, with Director Margaret Adeseye confirming the dire situation.
In a statement, she disclosed, “The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently attending to an emergency reported at 09:00 hours to 122, Herbert Macaulay Way, Lagos Bus Stop, Ebute Meta, Lagos. A one-storey building with a penthouse has collapsed, and two adults and a baby, all females, are still trapped, with search and rescue efforts underway.”
