Ikeja Electric Distribution Company (IE) has announced a reduction in electricity tariffs for customers in Band A, effective May 6, 2024. The new tariff rate has been decreased from ₦225/kWh to ₦206.80/kWh, representing a significant drop of approximately 8.2%.
According to a circular issued by the company’s management, customers in Band A will now enjoy a more affordable electricity rate, with a guaranteed availability of 20-24 hours of supply daily.
It is important to note that the tariff for customers in Bands B, C, D, and E remains unchanged. However, the reduction in Band A tariffs is a positive step towards making electricity more accessible and affordable for customers.
IE’s decision to reduce tariffs is likely to have a positive impact on households and businesses, who can now enjoy a more affordable electricity rate. This move is also in line with the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission’s (NERC) efforts to promote affordable and efficient electricity supply in the country.
Overall, the reduction in electricity tariffs by Ikeja Electric Distribution Company is a welcome development that will benefit customers in Band A and contribute to the overall growth and development of the Nigerian economy.
