President Tinubu Addresses Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025

At the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria delivered a powerful address titled “From Climate Imperatives to Economic Prosperity: Bringing Africa Into the Future of Global Energy.”

In his speech, the President underscored Africa’s pivotal role in the global sustainability discourse and emphasized the continent’s commitment to combating climate change while ensuring economic growth.

President Tinubu highlighted that resilience against climate change is crucial for protecting African communities and economies. However, he stressed that sustainability must be inclusive, promoting equity and social justice to leave no one behind.

“Our challenges are global, and solutions will only be effective if we work together in the spirit of mutual respect and a shared future,” he stated, urging global collaboration.

As Africa’s most populous nation and one of its largest economies, Nigeria stands as a beacon of leadership in climate and energy policy.

President Tinubu outlined the country’s strategic efforts, which rest on three fundamental pillars: Energy Transition, Climate Resilience, and Sustainable Development. These pillars serve as a framework for achieving both environmental and economic goals while addressing the continent’s unique challenges.

President Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to diversifying its energy sources. By investing in renewable energy technologies, Nigeria aims to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels and accelerate its shift toward cleaner, more sustainable energy solutions.

Acknowledging Africa’s vulnerability to climate change, the President emphasized the need for proactive measures to mitigate its adverse effects. From implementing adaptive infrastructure to improving agricultural practices, Nigeria is working to safeguard its people and resources from climate-related risks.

Ensuring a balance between environmental preservation and economic prosperity remains a priority. President Tinubu stressed that policies must promote inclusivity, creating opportunities for marginalized communities while fostering economic growth across all sectors.

President Tinubu called for stronger international partnerships, urging global stakeholders to recognize Africa’s potential as a leader in sustainable energy and climate action. His vision reflects a future where Africa is not only resilient to climate challenges but also thrives as a cornerstone of global energy transformation.

Through these bold commitments, Nigeria is positioning itself as a trailblazer, advocating for a sustainable and equitable future for Africa and the world.
