Fresh News: Gunmen Open Fire On Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom's Convoy
Gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked the convoy of Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom.

Matter Arising learnt that the incident occurred on Saturday Morning at Tyo Mu alongside Makurdi/Gboko highway in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue state.

Governor Ortom was stated to be on his way to Makurdi when the gunmen opened fire on his convoy however were repelled by his security men.

According to the statement made available to Matter Arising Governor who described the gunmen as ‘herdsmen.’ He added the herdsmen numbering about 15, trailed them to the river bank where he was on foot along with his security details to examine a farm and opened fire on them.

The governor praised his safety details that have been nearly six in numbers for responding quickly to the attack and repelled them promptly earlier than offering cover for him to return to security and his automobiles.

He stated troops of Operation Whirl Stroke, the police and DSS have mobilised to the forest between Tyo-Mu and Abinse the place the armed herdsmen camp to comb the area.
